When I was making this mix, despite containing a lot of my favorite songs (this amazing new GB song, White Light's absolutely insane "I Want You To Know Me", etc.), I felt as though something were wrong. Luckily, with a last minute swap of songs, I feel extremely happy with what you're going to listen to! Summer's over as we predicted and quicker than ever. Would love to go back to Alligator Point on the gulf in the night time and watch the stars, drive home quietly.

It's been a minute since our last installment, but had to enjoy the May Songs, an NTS mix, and the vacationary month of June! This one has a bit of a country swing but still a fair amount of dancing / contemporary music involved. Really looking to expand on these findings in writing form in the coming weeks and months, someone grab my ear and hold me to it.

Happy to say a majority of these tracks (save a John Martyn cut, an outfit by the name of "Eifuawn", and a sweet little closer) are from the past ~3 years of music-making! Choice names include Eliana Glass, Debris Bardot, Wendy Eisenberg... enjoy the freight train in the middle too!

Lots of titans across these tracks, Robert Fripp, Michael Fennelly, Barry McGuire, Bill Bruford, Bo Harwood, Jobriath Salisbury... but always in the key of Cuts Minor. Put your machete away, put the ring on.

Fellow v89 and mixmaster extraordinaire Hannah from The Pop Underground:
"A melancholy mix of New Wave, Library, Shibuya-kei, easy listening, MPB, etc. from the 60s to the modern day. Capped by songs with "blue" in the title."

This mix is a bit more 80s/90s than the previous mixes, featuring lots of sounds from the UK/ Australian/ Greek pop scenes. There's also a cut from the movie A Matter Of Degrees.

"There's a day when you know the summer has ended. Not necessarily on the equinox, but when you feel the season has come to a close. It's hard not to feel melancholic at this realization, but you can at least look back on the preceding months with warm memories. Here's to what comes next."

"Orgy" Week is the week between Christmas and New Year's. I've only ever seen the phrase used in Whit Stilman's Metropolitan. I've been sitting on a lot of this music but happy to share it now, a time without time.

Why does it so happen that Christmas comes to be the most bittersweet time of the year? Sometimes all you can do is remember how much everything has changed over the years. Stew over these thoughts, and enjoy some sounds from Joe Meek, Jackie Shane, Bob Lind and more.
